Comics in Disguise

Sunstreaker
Well I'm... hot blooded... check it and seeee

January 31st, 2007

Thursdays comic went up a little early yesterday, so I thought I'd do a January 31st news. (The real reason is because I don't have time right this minute to start making a February news *nervous laugh*)
I'm sure everyone was just dying to know how Sunstreaker was doing. (Besides his brother)

New comic up again!
From now on, I think I can say with confidence that Comics In Disguise will be updated every Monday and Thursday. (For now, I might add a third day in later, but let's not push our luck for now)
Inking by hand has saved my life... no longer am I painstakingly redrawing every panel on my computer. (It looked good, but it took a week to get anything done) And now I can draw more, ink faster... it just seems to be getting better. And with this technique the drawings can become a little more complicated too, as I am always trying to find ways to improve my work.

New comic up!
Also updated the Robots->Decepticons to give Reflector a bit of a more flattering portrait, now that I have more pictures of him done. I think inking my comic pictures by hand will work pretty well, it allows for more complicated images I can only cringe by thinking how long it would've taken me to do by computer alone. So right now (January 25th) it seems updating twice a week (Probably Monday and Thursday or Monday and Friday, we'll see) should be acheivable. I think I've already put up 4 new comics in the span of two weeks. I was going to mention something here about not having updated the archives, so I just went and updated them instead. So... everything's up to date!

January 23rd, 2007

The whole concept of Reflector still fascinates me. In the toyline, each section of the 'camera' that the three robots creates has its own name and different look. (I think it's Spyglass, Viewfinder and Spectro)
This isn't as morbidly fascinating to me as three robots that talk as one, but can also talk seperately and move seperately. And he always refers to 'himself' as one entity. I think it was just laziness maybe on the part of the scriptwriters, and for one thing, three robots having to transform into one hand-held single lens camera is kind of ridiculous from the start, but I find it really interesting.

Another comic up! (Although technically it went up yesterday) I'm going to try and give updating it at least twice a week a shot. I thought about trying the standard-ish three times a week, but I think right now that's just a 'bit' too much. Also, the Burning Crusade has come out for World of Warcraft so I have been playing a bit of that.
As I was drawing some new panels yesterday, I thought about the transformer I find the most difficult to draw, I think I'm going to have to say Megatron. The seekers take a ridiculous amount of time, and their helmets are impossible, but Megatron takes the cake. He has really long eyes, a complicated helmet shape, and he'll kill me if I don't get it quite right....

I can't believe January is already half over. That's insane. The days are already gradually getting longer you can tell. But that doesn't mean they're getting warmer here. Actually it's still really, really cold.
This coming comic is going to use both hand done inking as well as my normal inking on the computer. I tried it over the weekend and I think I'll be able to ink everything by hand from now on - when I post the comic after a few days I'll let you guys know which was done with which and you (the viewer) can see if you could tell!

Here follows what you can put in the "news" section. Do not deign to alter my words in any way or I will crush you like a tin can.

Greetings puny flesh creatures,

The slow updates which you have surely noticed have caused a certain webmaster to seek outside help in keeping new material on the site. As a result, I have been hounded mercilessly to pick up the slack. So here is an update for you. It's one of those stories with a moral, so be sure to pay attention.

A new comic is up! (Sort of)
It's a hommage to 2006, which technically was only about 5 months for me - I drew my first comic sometime in the latter part of July, then bought the site space, began creating the site made the news section, etc. It doesn't seem like much time has passed, but I suppose it has. What's in store for 2007? I'm not quite sure to be honest, but we shall have to see. I've been inking all weekend so far, and drawing some new stuff, tomorrow there will be some updates about my list of 'best of 2006'. I better get working on that one before it's March!

January 5th, 2007

The first work Friday of the new year! And believe me, as I drag myself back to the office for another day I need it.
And being the weekend coming up I should have no excuse not to work on the website. *cough*
The next comic is almost all drawn, and by all drawn I mean about halfway drawn when I think about it, but that's not too shabby.
Have a great weekend everyone!

I think I might do a mini recap of 2006, especially with a list of some of (what I consider) my best work on this site in terms of the banners, comics, general ideas. My favourite comics, or pictures relating to the site.

There's still a lot to improve on, that's for sure. I need to develop some sort of program where I can scan in my pencil drawings and ... poof! Out comes the finished product and I just have to add in the speech bubbles.
And you're right Hound, I do need to draw more Autobots.

January 2nd, 2007

Well, Happy New Year everybody! I hope you had some great holidays. Now it's back to the grind stone... back to a more 'normal' pattern of sleep where I actually see the morning.
It is now 2007... I must remember this when sending in stuff, I think I actually kept putting down November dates almost up to Christmas. (December was a long month)

I have some new ambitions for the website, (One of them includes saving Sunstreaker) such as an art page of single shots I've drawn of the transformers, as well as some personal ambitions. It's been five months since I started the site, five months and went by really fast. More 2006 reflections to come.

comicsindisguise.com is an unofficial generation 1 transformers fan site and dedicated to all of you who, like myself, grew up watching the Autobots and Decepticons battle it out. The comics are mainly based off the original cartoon series which began in 1984.
