Transformers Kool-Aid Week!

July 30th , 2007

Well friends, Transformers Kool-Aid Week comes to a close today, it's been a good run, lots of walls have needed repair and I've developed an unquenching thirst and a need for sugar. Specialty weeks are always fun even if they're a lot of work. In case you've missed any updates, I actually updated the site each day this week which started with last Monday. So if you've missed any days go ahead and scroll back or check the archives. Thank you Megatron. Your comics always make me burst out laughing. I added in the last panel. In case you're wondering, I will be updating Thursday, I'm hoping to continue with the current storyline then. Transform and roll out!

July 29th , 2007

Wow, updating every day this week has been mentally exhausting, I can't quite describe it. Trying to think up something new, even reusing my own artwork is tough, well at least for me. I think after this is over I'm going to need a bit of a break. I'm going out of town next weekend anyway so maybe I'll take my break then. I'll let you guys know in advance of course. Luckily Megatron is always there to help when I plead ask nicely. In some non-TF related news, I finally finished book 7 of Harry Potter. Some things were a little disappointing I'll admit, but I certainly enjoyed reading it. I think of the entire series though, my favourite has always been book 3.

I'VE GOT A BIG, BIG THIRST FOR HUMAN BLOOD!
Come on, tell me you weren't thinking that when the Mountain Dew machine came to life in the TF movie and started randomly shooting its cans at people.
But it's no Devastator. Not even close. And for all you movie fans who might still be introducing themselves to the G1 characters and timeline, this here is Devastator. He's a gigantic robot that forms when 6 seperate robots combine. (All the size of a normal transformer) He's coming to get you!
On a personal note, today is my brother's birthday. Happy birthday bro! Even though you laugh at my site and think I want to hear 4 different versions of 'you got the touch' at work.

July 27th , 2007

Yay, it's Friday!
Wow, where did the week go? Today I have a special 'art gallery' main page, dedicated to some of my sketches/coloured transformers pieces that don't really fit into any comics. I have posted some of them on other sites, but here they are, all as one. The Hound picture you might recognize from the banner up here on the news page, but now you can see in a slightly larger format. Enjoy!

July 26th , 2007

KNOCK KNOCK!
So today's main page is a bit of a dedication to when I first started out building the site, a year ago now, right after I got it. I had actually been agonizing over a name for it, wanting something 'familiar' sounding but distinct enough that it would be available on the web. I eventually settled on Comics in Disguise, I figured if they were bad enough then the name could have a double meaning and it was related to the Transformers universe. I look upon some of my old work and cringe, but I keep it up anyway. I remember sometime last year mentioning I wanted to see how my art evolved.

July 25th , 2007

Somehow I don't think the Decepticons would have enjoyed how they were portrayed in the movie, with the possible exception of Blackout, he was a badass.
I feel the movie has been out long enough for at least 90% of transformers fans to see it that I can start making slightly more 'revealing' comics without ruining it for anyone.

Unicron told me he thought I was 'above' taking cheap shots at the movie. He thought wrong! What's a comic artist for, anyway?

It's not only Decepticons that like to burst through walls (or door/walls)!

July 24th, 2007

Happy Birthday Comics in Disguise!
*confetti* *balloons* *music*

And what better way to start a new, new year than with the big Decepticon leader himself busting his way into some building. Maybe it's a powerplant, maybe it's a preschool, we're not quite sure.

I definitely have to say, that there are more people visiting the site now than there was a year ago, especially when it was first starting out. I feel I've come a long way with it, especially with updating twice a week. I salute the webcomic masters who seem to keep to their schedules so effortlessly, because it's definitely not easy. This week however, as a special, I will be updating with something new everyday.

July 23rd , 2007

Well, to help kick off the 1 year anniversary of Comics in Disguise, I thought we'd do a summer-themed week. Me and Megs always thought it was hilarious how the Transformers enjoy bashing through walls. I hope you enjoy it too!

Also to help kick off the week is a double update- gotta get the story moving along, whatever shall happen next!? For those new to the website, any special 'week' will have daily news updates, and since this week is my anniversary week, I will be putting up new things daily on the main page too.

See you tomorrow!

Uh oh... someone's putting a hit out on our rogue Decepticons...

I like trying to put in some of the 'lesser' used Autobots simply for the fact that it's fun, and I always wished Devcon had come back in something. Just something about an Autobot bounty hunter that hunts down Decepticons was always amusing to me. I'm always wondering whether Prime would be proud or horrified by him. Also he turns into a flying hovercraft, it's pretty cool. And he has a gun-helmet. *thumbs up*

Shockwave mentioned to me that this comic reminds him of Starwars. It's true that some season 2 episodes and especially season 3 were heavily influenced. (And some say the 1985 movie as well) Mostly when they start going to other planets.

July 16th , 2007

More Decepticons, oh my. I saw Harry Potter yesterday night, I thought it was good. I've read all the books to date so far and I knew there would be no way in hell they'd be able to put half of book 5 into that movie with the length that it was, but I think they did a decent job. They had a lot of little details in there that would make the fans happy.

Enjoy the comic! I'm still getting used to my new place. (Today is the one week anniversary of me being here) And so things are still a little slow... But it's coming along.

July 12th , 2007

Well, I am officially moved into my new place and everything is up and running. One thing that's weird is drawing here and working on my site in a 'foreign' area, I'm just going to have to do some adjusting.
I apologize, I took a screencap of Cybertron from the original G1 episodes and used it in today's comic. I had originally just had the 'Cybertron' word up there with Octane reading, but I felt it needed a bit of an establishing shot of the planet. In time, I hope to have a personally drawn rendition in its place, but if you do something like that only half way it will look terrible, so it's gotta be good! Today's comic introduces Octane into the story, a triplechanger like Astrotrain who appeared in season 3 of the cartoon. (And later on in the comics)

July 8th , 2007

Well, it's not Monday, actually it's July 8th and the Sunday BEFORE my usual update, but I'll be moving my stuff over to my new place all day tomorrow so I was worried I wouldn't have a comic posted in time. Also, I needed a double update because of the nature of my new format for this storyline - so enjoy! I'll probably be breaking it up Thursday into two seperate pages.

Wish me luck! It'll probably take several weeks to completely move all my stuff, but you gotta have the essentials: Computer, drawing pad, comics, DvDs. And then some of the lesser essentials: food, clothes, toothbrush...

July 5th , 2007

Today is the official movie release date! As well, Happy 4th of July or "America Day" as me and Megs call it for our cousins South of the Border.

I'm trying something 'slightly' new for my comics - having a bit more of a consistent look while it's in the storyline panels (you'll notice Mondays and today's are the same size). More to play around with the framing of each panel, perhaps to bring it within reason of loading times, and just to see how I manage with it. Another challenge! Setting the page!

July 3rd , 2007

I have seen the movie! And I am also reserving comments at the moment, mostly because I'm waiting for some information before I post anything and because I know it hasn't opened yet in a lot of places. Where I live we had a special screening yesterday, possibly because it was a holiday for us or that was just the pre-released date I'm not sure. But if I do put up a review, I will link it seperately so as not to blurt out a bunch of stuff and (possibly) ruin the movie for everyone. Keep in tune!
Also there will be a new 'Robot Week' coming up, one with a summer theme to suit the season. Right now I'm aiming for next week starting next Monday.

On a personal note, I'm moving, so I'm not sure if that will affect any updates next week. So far I'm saying 'no', if anything Monday's update will just have to go up early or on Monday itself instead of late Sunday as is my norm. I'll keep you guys posted.

July 1st , 2007

I can't believe how fast the months are flying. I'll let you know when the site's first year anniversary will be - July 24th is the day I officially took control of this webspace and began the long and painful process of putting up the site.

After a month of mostly guest comics and 1 pagers, we now return to a new storyline. Skywarp and Thundercracker have deserted, and Shockwave is none to happy about it. That's nowhere near how mad Megatron's going to be when HE finds out, which may or not be good news for Starscream.
On the Autobot side, Sunstreaker's body is still in desperate needs of repairing, and Laserbeak has been taken captive.
The story begins with today's panel....
Enjoy!

(And happy Canada Day fellow Canucks, I hope it was a good one for you!)
