Comics in Disguise

Smokescreen nonchalant
Mmmmm... free goo....

Whew... these flashback panels take a lot of time and effort, I'm lucky I have some to spare right now ^_^
I hope everyone's been enjoying it, I've been wanting to get to this part for some time, because it's mostly character development which I enjoy.
Those War Within models take a long time to draw and are pretty complicated, I'm always amazed at how Don Figueroa came up with them (some based on descriptions by Simon Furman or on original G1 models).

I think I'm confident enough to say that we're back baby - back in full swing comic wise that is. I have unfortunately been suffering a bit of an artistic drought, which may have had to do with time changes, job changes, and personal matters I had little control over. But now I'm back at the drawing table with a renewed enthusiasm, and to be honest I can't wait to draw the next panels. I hope everyone else is enjoying the storyline too. Don't worry - Soundwave and Astrotrain will return after our little visit with the seekers.

I hope everyone's had a good holiday weekend, if you celebrate Easter. Here in Canada we have a stat holiday on Friday (Good Friday) so I had lots of time to put together a more complicated comic. The past few weeks have been a little manic for me time-wise, so I wanted to reward my readers with something that took a lot longer to draw and colour.
Today's comic eludes back to the beginning of the Dedication series (if you were wondering when I'd bring more of that up, heh heh). I know there are official comics (The War Within series, the Megatron origin series) that deals with Cybertron pre-war and pre-Earth. My comics, while based on these (art-wise in relation to the characters) are a different take on some of the characters. My comic is mainly based on the original G1 cartoon series, and most of what happened pre-war for them is wide-open.

Whew... I'm still catching up on things here and trying to return to some sort of normal schedule. In fact I'm just about to pass out and head to bed since I have to be up so early now for my new job. The last couple of weeks have been kind of a blur. I'm really liking my new job actually, I look forward to going in and working on web stuff (except when I break my own code by mistake and then I have to go in and fix it).

I'm a bit behind on putting up the Rock Em Sock Em week too. For some reason I took away the screencaps, usually I just keep them up beside the text. Oh well, I'll get it so don't worry guys.

Enjoy the comic! My favourite drawing I did of Soundwave is panel 2. At first I thought it was my weakest drawing, but after colouring it it came out pretty nice. I'm trying to keep deviant art up to date too but I almost got a full comic behind on myself - oops.

I've had a very interesting weekend... In fact I have played three games Sunday. And have played a game a day/night since Thursday. It's sort of hard to move right now... And I'm pretty wiped out.

Today's comic kick starts part 2 of the Dedication comic. I know some people have been asking me why I call this current storyline 'Dedication'. Well... The word is sort of vague and broad, and it can be applied to different things. In my case, it is to explore many different types of Dedication. On the one hand right now we have Thundercracker, who seems to have no dedication to the Decepticon cause but who has been protecting two humans for what we think are his own selfish reasons. Then we have Soundwave/Shockwave, who are the complete opposite. And we have Devcon, hunting the renegade seekers. And we have Skywarp in the middle as well as the rest of the robots.

Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots week!

March 13th , 2008

Sorry for leaving everyone on a bit of a 'teaser', but from updating the site everynight and starting a new job (which has left me severely sleep deprived this week due to time changes and this job starting an hour earlier than my previous one) so I decided I'd rather take the weekend to get back into it rather than post some clumsy comic.

I hope everyone has enjoyed guest week, it's been a lot of fun updating and seeing everyone's comic. Great job to everyone! Here's one last classic violent punch to end an extended special 'week'. One of my personal favourites.

We'll see you all again Monday when regular updates continue.

March 12th , 2008

Thundercracker really likes punching/throwing people/robots around... Here he's got two Autobots with a single punch. Not too shabby.
I wish I could write more tonight but to be honest I haven't adjusted to a proper sleep schedule and I'm passing out as we speak. Well, or just becoming incomprehensible...

My first day at work went pretty well. Besides me being really really tired by the end of the day. But everyone there is super friendly and nice. I'm sure we all know what it's like walking into an office full of strangers then sitting down trying to get acquainted with their software and website while everyone else is working feverishly around you and complaining about all the work they have to do lol....

Also I will admit.. I've never played a paladin in WoW. Actually I've only ever played horde and when the expansion came out, I made a blood elf priest. I'm sure paladins are just fine. ....................

Poor Bumblebee. He does get his share of abuse- and as you can see this week not just from the Decepticons. Well today I re-enter the workforce (I suppose I've been out of it for about two weeks) and also having done this guest comic week has felt like a relaxing vacation. It's good to be on one, but it'll be good going back to work and earning some cash again. It won't be nice getting up early in the mornings again but... I'll live. Note: Getting up before 1pm = 'early'. Note 2: I have to get up significantly earlier than 1pm tomorrow.. ha ha.

Today Starscream gets his come-uppins in our feature screencap of the day, as well as in today's guest comic. We haven't seen Starscream around much in the current storyline, you can only guess that he's probably up to no good. On some non-comic related news, my team won our city finals today. It also completely wiped me out, so I'm going to go pass out now. If you're in North America (and not one of the states/provinces that doesn't have Daylights Savings) don't forget to turn your clocks forward an hour. ...hooray.

Rumble's not the only Decepticon that can manhandle humans!
So far guest comic week has been a huge success! Everyone's comics are really funny and of course, you can't go wrong with Transformers! In fact, I have a bit over a week's worth of comics but I'm going to post them all until they're done!

Megatron manhandled by Omega Supreme... I suppose there could be more humilating things to be manhandled by. As I have mentioned on the forums - I have found a new job! As of Monday I will rejoin the workforce after only being out of it for about two weeks. Not too shabby, since I had nothing lined up before I quit my last job. I'll be doing web design... I'm sure I'll learn a ton that will help me out with my own site here.

I always loved this screenshot - because it looks like Wheeljack is destroying Reflector (one of them) with his fists. Actually what's happening is that the Autobots are discovering Megatron's led them into an extremely elaborate trap and these Decepticons are dummies. (Although not all of them COULD be dummies, when the scene switches to the real Decepticons Reflector is nowhere to be seen....)

If you thought Thundercracker loved all humans well... guess again. He's not above flinging around those Autobot sympathizers....
Actually I wonder if you could still do this on a kid's show today. Sparkplug gets wrecked pretty good.

Hello fellow Transformer fans! Welcome to Comics in Disguise's Guest Week! Everyday we will have a new fan comic featured- as well as a new news page because this week is Rock 'em Sock 'em Robots week! Or, to quote Robot Chicken "World's most one-sided Fights" week.
For some reason Prime tossing Bumblebee around is so hilariously tragic.
